Abstract

Musculoskeletal models provide a non-invasive means to study human movement in greater detail than can typically be done in a laboratory setting. Interpreting the detailed outputs available from a model, however, requires understanding the underlying components of the model. In this webinar, we will assemble a model from the ground up. We will first give a brief overview of the various components of a musculoskeletal model and, for each component, its defining properties and modeling choices. We will then dive deeper into the modeling of musculotendon dynamics and, using our recently published lower extremity model as an example, discuss the implications of our modeling choices on simulations of gait.
