Title: NMSBuilder Software for Creating Patient-Specific OpenSim Models
Speaker: Giordano Valente, Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli
Time: Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time

Abstract

NMSBuilder enables biomechanics researchers of different backgrounds to easily create subject-specific models that can be used in OpenSim dynamic simulations through a graphical user interface (GUI). It provides a user-friendly tool package for biomedical data processing, developing OpenSim musculoskeletal models from subject-specific data, and leveraging OpenSim to perform dynamic simulations of movement.

The webinar will center around the specific example of generating OpenSim models from anatomical surfaces segmented from a lower-limb MRI data set. During the webinar, attendees will learn about how NSMBuilder can be used to:

  • Integrate and edit medical images and geometric data
  • Create and modify model components of the musuloskeletal system (e.g., bones, joints, muscles)
  • Generate OpenSim's xml model file from subject-specific data

NMSBuilder provides a complete framework enabling both pre- and post-processing of subject-specific models and simulations. It is freely available for download from here.

NMSBuilder is a MAF-based application developed within the NMSPhysiome project and which is integrated with the OpenSim API.
