2nd OpenSim Europe Workshop in Bologna
Advance your OpenSim skills and research project at a workshop led by OpenSim Fellows
The 2nd OpenSim Europe workshop will be held at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna, Italy, for beginner and intermediate users to advance their OpenSim projects. The workshop will be free of charge, but seats will be limited to approximately 25 participants. Travel awards of up to 500 Euros will be granted to the top three workshop applicants.
Goals
The workshop aims to provide basic knowledge of movement biomechanics and an overview of the comprehensive set of OpenSim GUI and scripting tools. Participants will learn to realize typical modeling workflows and perform advanced musculoskeletal simulations of movement.
Audience
The event is intended for beginner and intermediate users who are familiar with the available OpenSim tutorials, but want to gain deeper insights into the main software tools and apply them directly to their own data and projects, with on-site support from experienced researchers.
Agenda
The 3-day workshop will feature short lectures and large time slots to be spent working on participants' projects. The short lectures will cover the use of the main OpenSim tools and the related theoretical background to perform data processing and simulations of movement, including musculoskeletal model editing, data import, inverse and forward dynamics workflows, and simulation analyses. Participants will have the opportunity to work in small breakout groups with OpenSim experts on their research problems, and will briefly present their results at the end of the event.

The workshop will be held at the Research Center of the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute, via di Barbiano 1/10, 40136 Bologna (Italy), from the 3rd to the 5th of February 2016.
